I am sleepy most of the time that I’ve been missing "valuable opportunities" to be with you

always sleepy

I value sleep a lot. Give me a straight eight-hour sleep a day and I will be happy. I hate going to work, facing my pc, having to write an article or a speech and I am sleepy. It’s a good thing that we always have coffee in the office. I am getting by somehow.

The story of the sleepy-looking girl [part 1]

One late night at Starbucks somewhere in Quezon City.

A sleepy-looking girl was standing in front of the counter. She was scouting for the names written on the menu although in her mind, she already knew what drink to order. She always order cappuccino so it should not take her long to decide. But at that particular moment, it took her some time to make up her mind.

The guy at the cashier had a smile on his face, patiently waiting for the sleepy-looking girl to say her order. The tag on his shirt says, “Mar”. He had a green apron on top of his shirt.

“One cappuccino tall please,” finally the sleepy-looking girl said to the guy. She looked at him and noticed the mole on the tip of his nose. It suits his face, she thought.

“Will you be drinking that here or to go?” he answered back still smiling. His teeth were awesome white, she thought.

“Here,” she softly answered.

“Can I get your name, ma’am?” he asked again. The smile on his face remained.

The girl was silent for a moment. She blushed a little. But she wasn't sure. She could not look at him. She usually doesn’t give her name. Usually, it’s “Joey” or “Sarah” or “Anne” or any of Murakami’s protagonists or "Naoko" or "Ayumi" because she likes names that have a Japanese sound to it. But that particular night was different. She felt like giving away her real name.

“Margarita” she finally said.

“One cappuccino tall for Margarita coming up!” he said it in a template-ish, mechanical kind of way. But the smile did not fade which made the sleepy-looking girl all perk up and alive.

The sleepy-looking girl looked back before finally settling in her table. She was surprised to see him looking back.

She decided: tomorrow she'll have the Cafe Americano, same time, same coffeeshop, same name.

To belong means not necessarily jumping into the bandwagon...

opposites

Yeng Constantino's kickers and Ginger Conejero's three inches heels.

----------

There are two kinds of women in this world, those who enjoy wearing high heels looking all modest and prim even though their feet are throbbing in pain; and there are those who wear flats looking all small, hasty and casual often drowned in a crowd full of these high-heeled women.

Who am I then?

I am the girl who wears a dress over a pair of Chuck and enters a room of women in their modest looking high-heeled shoes.

I was at the WTC in Pasay City last weekend covering a DA event called the O!MayGulay Cooking Contest. This is their third year and the last one I believe since Agri Secretary Arthur Yap will be stepping down his office to run for a local political position in Bohol (or so I think). Our office is not the organizer but we worked with them on a collaborative effort on this particular activity.

So anyway, I was there to take photos, which I did. And as expected, there were celebrities. I am not much into the Kapuso artists as I do not know most of them but looking at the crowd's reactions as this particular loveteam is being introduced, I can't help but be in great awe. I told to myself, "Wow, they must be that popular!"

I click the shutter every chance I get. Trying to get the best angles. Afterall, I was one of the few photographers that the organizers allowed to go front and back the stage so it's only proper that I get every best opportunity possible.

By the end of the program, I was so exhausted that all I wanted was to get out of the place. Enough celebrities for the day.

Define "pretty"...

Pretty is… Jonathan Mullaly or Jon Avila as he’s known in the Philippine television arena. :-)

Just to emphasize how pretty this man is...

...and how pretty are his olive green eyes.

Two weeks ago, I was at the WTC in Pasay City covering an event and while humming my way towards our booth, I found a group of women giggling over some handsome guys also known as The Cover Boys. I am not familiar with some of them but I’ve seen them performed on television.

So anyway, I got curious and found myself standing in front of the row (thanks to my camera, they must have thought I am a photographer from a cheap tabloid). I was swooning over John Avila. I rarely get a crush on celebrities as I find most of them phony especially when they know they are being caught on tape, but at that time I guess I was star struck.

From where I stood, I took several shots of John Avila (only him). He has probably caught the series of flashes I was aiming at him that he decided to throw some attention on me. He’s a poser so I tried getting some nice angles before these women beside me took over. His eyes are mesmerizing. They are olive green. Probably from his Irish father.

Got this little excerpt from http://bestuff.com

Viewers know Jon for his good looks and admirable body. However, despite the fame he is experiencing now, Jon has not had an easy life growing up in London. Jon struggled with harsh racial discrimination since he was the only Asian in school. Because of being constantly ostracized by his schoolmates, Jon's self-esteem hit rock bottom. The bullying finally came to an end when he entered college where he found real friends.

Then he traveled to the Philippines in search of a new life, but to his disappointment, more trials and difficulties came his way. Jon recalls the time when he used to live in a small room with no air con and electricity. For some time, he slept on a cheap mattress, feeling lonely and missing the company of family and friends. But just like a true Filipino, Jon managed to rise above all the hardships. He persevered to fend for himself, shedding off some extra pounds and later becoming one of the most sought after male models in the country. Despite the Western upbringing, Jon never forgot his Filipino roots. When he came back to the Philippines, he felt a greater privilege of being liked by Filipinos.
